The purpose of the role is to manage hygiene operations within poultry farm environments by leading and supervising on-site hygiene teams to ensure strict hygiene, food safety and operational standards are always maintained. The role requires a highly hands-on operational approach, active supervision of staff on-site, regular engagement within farm facilities, and a strong focus on discipline, accountability, customer satisfaction, and compliance. The incumbent must be physically fit, comfortable working in poultry farm environments, and capable of identifying operational and equipment-related concerns requiring corrective action.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise hygiene teams within poultry farm and production environments
- Ensure compliance with hygiene procedures, PPE requirements, food safety standards and operational policies
- Maintain a visible and hands-on management presence on-site
- Conduct routine site inspections and identify operational, hygiene and equipment-related risks
- Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance to minimize operational downtime
- Drive productivity, discipline and accountability within operational teams
- Ensure customer requirements and service expectations are consistently met
- Manage workplace climate, employee performance and staff development
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety regulations and company standards
- Support operational efficiency, continuous improvement and customer-focused service delivery
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric / Equivalent qualification
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in:
- Operational site management within agricultural, industrial, hygiene, poultry, or food production environments
- Managing large operational teams
- Hygiene operations within food production, poultry farming, agricultural, or industrial cleaning environments
- Total Quality Management Systems
- HR-related matters and people management
- Equipment and basic technical maintenance coordination
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Afrikaans
- Valid driver’s license advantageous
- Ability to work in physically demanding poultry farm environments
